Sean Patrick Maloney, DCCC Chair, fights AOC-backed Primary Challenger

NEW YORK — Sean Patrick Maloney is the Chair of the House Democrats Campaign Arm. He survived a primary challenge.

Maloney was New York’s first openly-gay congressman after he was elected to office a decade ago.

Maloney was supported by former President Bill Clinton and campaigned for Democrats’ legislative victories in Congress. He warned that Republicans could take the seat in November if they elect a liberal Democratic nominee.

Biaggi is an 36-year old progressive who was endorsed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio–Cortez. She is the granddaughter of Mario Biaggi (an ex-Bronx Congressman). Her goal was to paint Maloney, who she considered out-of-touch and part of the establishment.
