Charlie competes with another man to cross a muddy road for a young woman. Charlie is able to take the plank from his rival, who finds it as a woodplank. The rival’s umbrella is the cause of their dispute. The rival is eventually arrested by a police officer who settles the matter. A innocent tramp is forced into the lake.
