In 1620, a different seed was planted in North America. The religiously-motivated Pilgrims led the establishment of a distinct tradition in America that was based on individual rights and freedoms. The Pilgrims lived a different life than the Spanish colonists or Jamestown colonists because they were guided by the Christian scriptures.
