Lum is frustrated with Abner Peabody (partner in Pine Ridge’s Jot-’em-Down General Store), because Abner traded their delivery vehicle for a horse. Lum, who is too shy to propose to Geraldine at the Jot-’em-Down general store in Pine Ridge, becomes annoyed with Abner Peabody. He involves Abner in an “rescue” operation that almost gets them both killed. Geraldine seems impressed when they try again. Lum sends Abner a proposal letter. However, Abner misunderstands and delivers the note to Widder Abernathy who is ready to marry again for many years. Lum is in trouble and Abner delivers it to the Widder Abernathy, who has been waiting for remarrying for years.
