Texas prison sentence for drug trafficking convictions

Texas inmate Yeshmel Wright faces the possibility of a life sentence in federal prison after being charged and arrested as part of a 42-person conspiracy to drone drop drugs and contraband into prison.

Wright was specifically charged with “conspiracy to possess methamphetamine with intent and conspiracy to possess synthetic marijuana,” according a press release by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Wright was named in the 11-count indictment of the 42 conspirators on Feb. 9; he appeared in federal court in front of Judge Christine Nowak this week.

Wright allegedly used drones for contraband delivery, which included heroin, meth and synthetic marijuana.

The seizure by the conspirator of his items resulted in “multiple kilograms” of heroin, methamphetamines, methamphetamines, and “M 30″ Fentanyl pills, as well as synthetic marijuana. Additionally, approximately $150,000 in cash, jewelry and vehicles have been seized,” according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas.

” I hope that this indictment resonates avec others who might want to smuggle contraband in our secure facilities,” Bryan Collier, TCDJ Executive Director, stated in the agency’s press release.

Wright received an initial sentence of 30 year in state prison in Texas for aggreved robbery, and 8 years in Dallas County for burglary.
