Hailey Davidson is poised to be the first transgender golfer

Golfer Hailey Davidson wants to be the first transgender female to get a Ladies Professional Golf Association card. She has already played two solid rounds at Palm Springs’ LPGA Qualifying School.

Davidson was born in Scotland, but now resides in Florida. He shot a 70 on Thursday and a 76 Friday.

As per current LPGA rules any player who shoots below 88 in all three rounds of play will be awarded a 2023 Epson Status. This is the official qualifying tour.

The top players from the qualifying rounds will be moved to Stage II in Oct.

Last Year, Davidson was the second transgender female to participate in LPGA Qualifying School’s first stage. She succeeds Bobbi Lancaster, who did the same in 2013..

Davidson was awarded a scholarship to Wilmington University to play on a team of men. She later transferred to a team with men at Christopher Newport University, Virginia. Before she made the transition from male to woman.

Davidson had hormone treatment in a gender reassignment procedure in 2015,, a 6-hour process required by the LPGA’s Gender Policy. In 2010., the association dropped its requirement that a “female birth certificate” be required.

Davidson was frustrated by the controversy surrounding her transgender identity affecting her performance during an interview with Golfweek.

” If I’m bad then people will be able to say, “Oh, well she played badly and didn’t do enough.” — I won’t feel righteous if I make a difference because I’ve put so much of my life into it. It’d be because I was trans.” Davidson stated.

Transgender inclusion in sport, especially for biological men, has been a hot topic in recent years.

Several GOP-led states passed several measures that target transgender people, such as limiting women’s participation in sports.

Meanwhile, Democrats attacked these laws as being transphobic. The Biden administration sought to relax Trump-era transgender rules and increase protections for LGBT people.
