An Officer Shows The Human Side Of Police After Being Shot at an Armed Suspect

Police officer aren’t very popular these days. They are hated by the left for maintaining a racist system and being an authority figure, while conservatives view them less trustworthy due to recent events. While conservatives continue to view police as vital, Uvalde has taught them a profound lesson.

The simple truth is that police officers are still human beings. Although there are some very bad acts by police officers, the majority of those who put on a badge or a gun every day are decent people. They are more than just law enforcement officers.

One video really shows how real they are. Breitbart posted a video showing two officers responding in an emergency to the call of an armed man at Dollar General having discharged his firearm. A black male identified as Jalail Witted () approaches the shop to find a cellphone in his hand, and what appears to be a gun hidden inside his right arm. He orders the man to raise his arms, and the suspect replies with “shoot him .”

.”

Officers begged the suspect to cooperate, but he kept moving toward them slowly and threatened to grab his gun every so often. The suspect was clearly not willing to be shot by the police. You can hear them frantically asking him to not make any movements that could force them to fire upon him. However, he continued his slow, threatening movement towards the firearm.

Eventually officers had to fire upon Whitted. He was wounded but not killed. This was the most dramatic part of the video. But what was more interesting was the reaction of an officer to being forced to fire on Whitted, who he apparently thought had been killed.

The officer fell into shock, remained still in place as though a statue and held his gun pointed at Whitted as the officers approached him. One of Whitted’s fellow officers saw that he had become frozen and came to his aid. The gun didn’t want to move so they had to force it out.

Finally, the officers were able to free the gun from his hand and allow him to unload the weapon. The Lieutenant gives the gun to him and tells him that he must go to the hospital. He orders two other officers to accompany him.

It’s vital to understand that men and women who are doing this job still have to do it. This is a difficult task that takes a toll on those involved. While the badge can be heavy and some people don’t measure up to it, most of them are a positive influence on society.

They deserve our support and understanding.
