Fetty Wap is in jail after an alleged FaceTime threat of death

NEW YORK — Fetty Wap was arrested Monday for allegedly threatening to kill a man in a FaceTime conversation in 2021,, violating terms of his pretrial release from a federal drug conspiracy case.

Wap, whose real name is Willie Maxwell, told the man, “Imma kill you and everybody you with,” and flashed a gun during the Dec. 11 video call about two months after his arrest in the drug case, prosecutors said.

U.S. Magistrate Steven Locke took a plea from the prosecutors and revoked Maxwell’s bond. He sent Maxwell to prison following Monday’s hearing in Long Island federal court.

Ask Maxwell for comment. The “Trap Queen” rapper is scheduled to perform in Mobile, Alabama, on Aug. 19 and Austin, Texas, on Aug. 27, according to his website.

Maxwell, originally arrested in October for conspiring to smuggle heroin and fentanyl into New York City.

Maxwell, who pleaded not guilty, was released after posting a $500,000 bond, secured by property he owns in Georgia, and agreeing to certain conditions, including that he not violate any federal, state or local laws while on release and that he not possess a gun or other weapon.

Prosecutors claim evidence including the FaceTime call recording showed probable cause Maxwell knew or should have violated his conditions for release.

Maxwell threatened to kill Maxwell during the conversation, and was shown holding a gun, pointing at the screen. According to an FBI affidavit, the FBI filed on the court docket. According to an FBI affidavit, Maxwell replied by saying “Your man’s a rats” after Maxwell called Maxwell a rodent.

Prosecutors didn’t identify Maxwell as the one they are accusing of threatening and referred to Maxwell in court papers as John Doe.

In the underlying drug case, Maxwell and five co-defendants are accused of conspiring to possess and distribute more than 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of heroin, fentanyl and crack cocaine between June 2019 and June 2020.

The scheme involved the use of U.S. Prosecutors said that the scheme involved using U.S. Postal Service, cars equipped with hidden compartments, to transport drugs from Long Island to West Coast. They were then stored there for distribution to Long Island dealers and New Jersey.

Maxwell became famous after his debut single “Trap Queen”, which reached No. 2. Billboard Hot 100 chart in May 2015.

He has also been arrested for 2019 assaulting three workers at a Las Vegas hotel-casino. After police claimed he was racing drag on New York City’s highways, he was arrested and later charged with DUI.
