FL Primary: “Top Gov” DeSantis is Running Against No One But the School Board

Governor Ron DeSantis was not on Tuesday’s Florida primary ballot. No Republican challenged the Governor’s model GOP tenure in the era of COVID, nor his record-breaking war chest OpenSecrets reported to be $165 million since he took office. DeSantis has not stopped his campaign efforts as he issued a Maverick-inspired “Top Governor” advertisement against mainstream media.

While DeSantis cooly cruises though the primary, the question being posed is if he will be running for President in 2024. DeSantis has not resigned as Governor. Desantis is currently touring Florida to promote his strong education agenda. This includes rejecting COVID school closings, curriculum transparency and barring indoctrinal ideology. He also supports civics education and financial literacy. Veterans are welcome in the classroom. There has also been a significant expansion of school option , as well as increased teacher salaries. Florida ranks among the best states in education.

DeSantis aims to continue Gov’ing and get conservative candidates elected on school boards throughout the state. DeSantis’ PAC has made donations of $1000 to each of his endorsed candidates and paid for mailers in at least two counties.

DeSantis charts a new path in politics by steering non-partisan school board elections, which are often ignored by candidates at the top of the ticket. This one will likely gain traction among Republican leaders from other states. America’s popular governor is an expert at trendsetting. At an “Education Agenda Tour” stop in Sarasota Monday, he told the crowd, “If I could have a conservative majority on every school board in the country, we would be in such good shape.”

DeSantis has tweeted the list of 29 endorsed candidates committed to backing his “bold” education agenda. During Monday’s Sarasota address, the Governor encouraged participation by telling the crowd ,

“November is going to be very important. However, we have some work to do Tuesday .”

These 29 candidates are committed to advancing a bold education agenda in Florida.
