Finland’s PM Sanna Marin Struggles for her Right to Party

Leaked video of Finland’s Prime Minster Sanna Marin attending a party has sparked political backlash. These videos, which were compiled with several clips of Sanna Marin at a party in Finland, show her singing and dancing along with some Finnish pop stars. Marin is 36 years old, the youngest PM in the country’s history, and the youngest current serving PM in the world. According to the Finnish media outlet Yle , Marin said ,

she was defending her private life.

” I live with my family, have a job and have time for friends. Pretty much the same as many people my age,”

Demands for drug testing were made after the public release of two videos. Riikka Purra, chair of Finns Party, asked Marin to take part in a drug testing along with Mikko Karna from the Centre Party. Marin acknowledged that she had consumed alcohol, but said she was not involved in any drug-related activity. Marin was submitted for drug testing Friday, stating ,

“I consider these accusations to be very serious, and, though I consider the demand for a drug test unjust, for my own legal protection and to clear up any doubts, I have taken a drug test today, the results of which will come in about a week.”

The results have been published. According to the BBC, the Finnish government issued a statement stating that no drugs had been found during the testing. As a comment on how socially accepted… legal activity is, women started sharing clips of themselves partying and dancing on social media with #SolidaritywithSanna. There are feminist sentiments that women should be allowed to have their hair down. This is a more subtle context in Finland’s political landscape, as her female cabinet was previously called “the spice girls.” People are responding by dancing on social media.

From an American standpoint, it is bizarre that there was ever a controversy. The elicit videos of Hunter Biden, governor (D-CA), celebrating French Laundry and breaking lockdown rules while he was at it, have plagued our country. Andrew Gillum, former governor candidate for FL, was found drunk in a hotel room after another man, who had been rushed to emergency care because he appeared to be intoxicated with methamphetamine. These types of scandals are commonplace, and get little media attention.

Considering the shameful state of American debauchery I would say that Finland is doing pretty well. America’s depraved dynasty responds by saying, “Hold my beer
