Wray: FBI opened “a lot” of domestic terror investigations into terrorist attacks on churches and pro-life centres

FBI Director Christopher A. Wray stated Thursday that the FBI had opened “a lot” of domestic terror investigations to investigate attacks on churches, pro-life centers and other places since the publication of an abortion opinion by Supreme Court Judge. This decision ultimately overturned Roe v Wade.

In testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee Mr. Wray stated that the bureau had begun investigating domestic violence extremists using several of its task forces and local law enforcement. Wray stated that the probes are also focused on threats or attacks against pregnant resource centers.

Mr. Wray didn’t say how many FBI investigations were opened, but said that probes had been launched in Iowa and North Carolina.

He stated that there has been a significant increase in violence from both sides during the abortion debate and added that this was the first time such an increase had ever occurred at the FBI.

” This is part of larger phenomena that we are seeing in this country. While I can understand the passions that run high on issues like abortion, there is far too many who believe that violence and destruction should be justified,” said Mr. Wray. It feels like I am constantly being briefed on someone’s Molotov cocktail. It’s crazy.”

Since May’s leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion on Roe v. Wade, at most 66 attacks have occurred on Catholic churches, and 62 assaults on pregnancy resource centres, according to CatholicVote data. Graffiti with pro-abortion messages was common among many of these attacks.

” I do not care which side you’re on. “I don’t care about who or what you’re upset about — abortion, or any other — violence against anyone or using threats or violence is not an option. We will pursue that behavior aggressively and that’s something I strongly believe in,” Mr. Wray stated to lawmakers.
