Democrat Wes Moore beats GOP’s Dan Cox 10 to 1. Maryland Governor’s Race

Wes Moore is the Democratic nominee to be Maryland’s governor. He has raised more than his Republican counterpart going into the fall campaign.

Mr. Moore has $1.3 million cash in his hands after raising $1.8 million just two months ago. This 10-to-1 advantage is against state Del. Dan Cox, who brought in $195,000.

The Republican currently has a cash balance of $130,000.

The race for the governor is dominated by Mr. Moore. He’s a newcomer to politics and was previously CEO of an antipoverty organization. Cox downplayed the lack of funds and stated that he intends to use a grassroots approach to winning.

” Having a lot money isn’t the key to winning elections. According to Mr. Cox, it’s all about having enough money.”

Mr. Cox said that he hopes to win the contest with the support of single mothers, students, and families .”

Mr. Moore said that his fundraising abilities prove his ability to create a diverse coalition, and indicate an “incredible amount momentum .”

Mr. Hogan cannot run for another term because of state term limits. Only the second Republican in state history to be elected twice consecutively.

Mr. Hogan criticized Mr. Cox for being too extreme. He cited his loyalty to Donald Trump and connections to the 2021 Capitol Riot. He called Mr. Cox “mentally insecure .”
