Liz Cheney’s humiliating defeat

By Tuesday night, most of us were already aware that Rep. Liz Cheney hadn’t just lost the Republican primary but had been obliterated. The next morning provided an even clearer picture, showing the soon-to-be ex-congresswoman lost by nearly 40 points.

With the primary election over, it was time to address the reactions. Cheney and her establishment-loving supporters have not learned anything from their crushing loss. They are actually doubling down on something that clearly did not work.

Cheney might have taken her electoral rebuke and done some reflection to realize that her loss wasn’t just about Donald Trump. She instead rushed to join the leftwing morning program, where she showed all of the self-awareness that a turnip has.

Would this be the same “cult-of personality” which renominated Gov. In spite of Trump’s strong opposition, Brian Kemp won Georgia by a wide margin. Or the fact that Texas voters overwhelmingly supported Dan Crenshaw despite Trump’s supporters believing he is akin John McCain. It’s almost like Cheney didn’t dislike the orange man. Plenty of GOP politicians who have never said the 2020 election is stolen and aren’t big on Trump won their primaries.

This is really all it comes down to. Cheney needs her support to make her the victim of an unfair cult personality. This will throw anyone who does not adore Donald Trump aside. This is a cartoon of the GOP, which works well on CNN or CBS News. But it’s not reality.

Cheney does not pretend to be an innocent observer who took a position, even though she would like that. She opted to join hands with Democrats in order to promote an evidence-free narrative through the January 6th committee. Remember the “seven-step plan” to overturn the 2020 election she assured us she would prove? She has yet to provide any evidence for step one, despite having a dozen hearings under her belt.

This was evident to Wyoming’s voters in the past few months. The women saw someone who was not interested in their problems or cared about them. The women saw a woman who could not be bothered to help them or their concerns during a crucial mid-term election.

Then, there is the simple fact that Cheney’s view of the world simply is not in fashion anymore. Republicans have had enough of the defense industry simps that won’t admit to being wrong regarding any foreign incursions. Which was worse for the country? Which was more harmful to the country? The January 6th War or the Iraq War. Even though it’s close, when you count the dead bodies, Cheney has not shown even an ounce attrition. She continues to be adamantly against those who are willing to demand accountability.

Wyoming’s GOP primaries were not difficult. Cheney failed to realize that her constituents have to answer for herself. Instead, she remained in the DC bubble of delusions. Cheney refused to compromise on her most hateful political positions. That is what Cheney will be doing next January.

She won’t be able to learn this lesson. Neither will all the “principles first conservatives” on the right, who would not know what a principle was if it hit them. You can’t keep spewing in the faces of voters, even if you help Nancy Pelosi reach her goals. Cheney didn’t lose simply because she opposed Trump. Cheney lost as she tried to hurt the people who elected her. She is a worse person for not owning that.
