Ohio dad confesses that he deliberately left his infant son to die by hot-car, according to police

An Ohio father has been charged with the murder of his baby son after he confessed to having locked him in a hot car for five hour.

New Philadelphia Police Chief Michael Goodwin said in a statement that they arrested and charged Landon Parrott, 19, with murder, involuntary manslaughter and two counts of endangering children. He is currently being held in the Tuscarawas County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Hospital staff called the authorities after Mr. Parrott took his child, who was unresponsive, to the emergency department around 2:20 p.m. on that day.

Detectives found initially that Mr. Parrott had given inconsistent information regarding how his child got to the ER. Chief Goodwin later revealed that Mr. Parrott admitted to having left his child alone in his car for five hours while it was 87 outside.

” “It seems that this wasn’t a matter of forgetting about the child, but rather a deliberate act to ensure the child wouldn’t be disturbed while inside the house,” Chief Goodwin stated.

Police Capt. Ty Norris told WJW (a Fox affiliate) that the temperature outside had made the car’s inside about 130 degrees.

” This child was strapped in a car seat without fluids, air conditioning or anything,” Capt. Norris said to the station. It’s heartbreaking to watch this unfold before you eyes .”

WJW surveillance video showed that Mr.Parrott put the child into the car at 8: 30 A.M. Then he returns around 1 to inspect the child: 50, p.m .

Police stated that Mr. Parrott admitted to it after being confronted with more information.
