Something is strange with Gina Carano’s Twitter account. As of September 4, it is not there . The account was active as recently as August 27th.
The question is whether Carano or Twitter removed her account. Twitter usually suspends an account when it pulls the plug, as it did with President Trump. Carano’s account is “no longer exist” which means that the user has deleted it. It is possible but unlikely, given Carano’s atypical use of her account to promote her conservative beliefs and other acting ventures. She amassed over 1 million followers.
Carano’s other social media accounts, such as Instagram and Truth Social, are still online. She most recently posted on Instagram on August 27th and Truth Social on August 30th. Her most recent Facebook post was on August 29th. Interestingly, her Facebook profile still lists the now-inoperative Twitter account.
Carano used Twitter recently to vigorously criticize the US Open refusal to allow Novak Djokovic to enter the USA to compete in the US Open. This was due to Djokovic not being fully vaccinated. On August 25th she wrote:
If all the tennis players boycotted the @usopen until @DjokerNole was permitted to play it would cause change. It is the silence of family, friends, colleagues, countrymen and media that hurts most. ALL OF THIS IS DISAPPOINTED IF WE STAND TOGETHER. What will it take to get enough?
Carano has been a frequent target of social media turmoil. In February 2021, she was fired from Disney+ Star Wars show The Mandalorian despite her character’s massive popularity due to her refusal to toe the woke party line. Christian Toto reminds us regarding that original incident:
Carano didn’t label any politician, Left or Right, as Hitler or Nazi-esque. It was worrying that both conservatives and libertarians were treated the same in west culture. She feared for what would happen next.
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…. Even children. Most people don’t know that history can be edited. This means most people do not realize the fact that in order to make Nazi soldiers able to round up thousands of Jews easily, the government made their neighbors hatred them for simply being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”
Her post was more nuanced and empathic than those who label Trump supporters Nazis.
It is hoped that Carano will speak out on any of her platforms soon and inform her followers about what happened. The mystery surrounding Carano’s disappearance on Twitter is speculative at best.
