LOS-ANGELES (AP), — Authorities claim that two Los Angeles County sheriffs were involved in a scheme to allow residents concealed weapon carry permits.
The sheriff’s office announced Thursday that the deputies were dismissed from duty due to alleged violations of weapons laws. They were also suspended from their peace officer rights.
The investigation started about one year ago, when officials found “irregularities” in concealed weapon application processes.
Authorities issued search warrants in multiple places Thursday, and seize evidence related to the alleged scheme.
” While disappointed by the misconduct this investigation revealed involving employees of the Department, Sheriff Alex Villanueva won’t tolerate it and expects that all Department members will uphold ethical and professional standards.” The department stated in a news release.
