White students are told by University to stop exhausting everyone else

If you are attending University of Richmond (UR), you will be viewed as either one of the following: You can be either a victim, or an oppressor depending on how you categorize yourself.

Per college’s Equity , It’s heavy on belonging:

Diversity. Equity. Inclusion. Belonging.

To fulfill our mission of “educating students for lives that purpose, thoughtful inquiry and responsible leadership within a diverse global world”, we need to work together in Richmond to ensure Richmond is a place where people come from different backgrounds, views, perspectives, and experience.

To whom, precisely, do you belong? UR has made it clear that you are either with whites or all those who have left.

The Equity page has five tabs. One of them is called “Antiracism”. In this section, the school discusses intention and an explicitly structural ideology:

Diversity. Equity. Inclusion. Inclusion. To achieve racial equality at the University of Richmond, we need to conduct proactive antiracist education and inquiry at all levels. We must also build a strong structure of antiracist practices and policies. Antiracism must also address the multidimensional nature racism and the different effects it has had on individuals and groups. Many current initiatives are examples of the University’s dedication to antiracism, which is the way to achieve racial equality.

As previously noted by UCLA Law Professor Kimberle Crenshaw, antiracism seeks to abolish whiteness:

“Anti-racism is the active dismantling of systems, privileges, and everyday practices that reinforce and normalize the contemporary dimensions of white dominance. This, of course, also involves a critical understanding of the history of whiteness in America.”

This is the dedication of the University to “White Antiracism”.

We encourage White Antiracism through providing campus communities with opportunities to explore race and racism as well as the practices of antiracism. Because white people play important roles in antiracism, a focus on white antiracism must be made. We also want to encourage white antiracism initiatives that ease the pressure on peoples of color to learn about race and support people who are leading change.

Via White Antiracism Page , The school places you right where you belong. You can either get tired of teaching white people or be part of the problem.

Whites have an important role in the antiracism movement. These resources and opportunities are provided to help members of the campus community learn about racism and antiracism. White antiracism is an institution effort to alleviate the pressure on people of colour to teach white people about race and to be supportive of people who are working to change.

Interested parties have access to UR’s white antiracism listserv — or for a little information:

The lunchtime conversation series about antiracism in white culture is an informal forum for people to talk and share their views on the topic. It focuses on ways that white people can better practice antiracism. Participation is open to all members of campus. You are all welcome, no matter your stage in antiracism. We ask participants to keep the conversation centered around whiteness and antiracism. Discussions usually begin with a shared reading. Discussions take place weekly every Monday from noon to 1 p.m

Know what your “bodies are” — after all they are what make you unique:

Our academic themes are embodiment and practicing. We will be focusing more on how racism is felt in the body and on being intentional about putting antiracism in practice. Taking action.

Education has taken incredible leaps towards achieving the goal of pre Civil Rights segregation. We are still partial to pairs, even though we hate the binary. The race you choose to be your standard — that is the benchmark by which all others are measured? Anti-white warriors would say white.

The University of Richmond wants to combat oppression through ideological segregation. It’s a noted departure from lessons learned by recent generations — they concluded segregation was oppression.

Where is America heading? Where is America headed? We may find unity, but it won’t come quickly.
