DC Election Integrity: Don’t Trust

Swamp animals have collected millions of dollars in order to combat election fraud but they did nothing with it.

As inflation continues to soar and the economy continues to fall, Beltway elitists continue to dismiss what was one of the most obvious examples of voter fraud in the history of the United States: the 2020 Presidential Election.

Voter fraud has been with us for millennia, but the 2020 election was especially alarming. In 2020, a number of swing states changed the election rules and procedures, which compromised the security protections of the process. Multiple states sent millions of ballots by mail. This caused confusion and complicated the tracking and authentication. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO, famously infused hundreds of millions of dollars called “Zuckerbucks” into local elections. Unreliable results in the election were created and this led to troubling and disturbing outcomes. This also caused distortions in rules for big swing cities like Phoenix, Atlanta and Philadelphia.

President Donald Trump rightly focused on the problem of election integrity long before the 2020 election; it was a subject that had motivated him for years. In May 2017, President Trump announced the creation of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, with Vice President Mike Pence in a titular role as chairman. Pence didn’t personally participate in the creation of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, but he provided his staff for the Commission. Kris Kobach, a conservative Kansas Secretary-of-State and a well-known campaigner against voter fraud, was the real leader.

The Commission included recognised experts in the field such as Hans von Spakovsky and J. Christian Adams (election attorney) and Ken Blackwell, former Secretary of State for Ohio. This was the only presidential commission that could address voter fraud.

The Commission made headlines at its initial meetings in July and September of 2017, presenting over 900 cases in which individuals had been convicted of election crimes, and showcasing a study that revealed thousands of cases of double voting in the 2016 election.

Not surprisingly, left-leaning parties were concerned. The Commission also had other tasks, including a study of Philadelphia’s election system and comparing government databases in order to find out how many noncitizens are on voter rolls. The machinery of voter fraud would have been exposed if the Commission was allowed to continue.

The left waged a full-scale legal war to stop the Commission. To stop the Commission from working, a unholy coalition of activists groups, including the ACLU and Lawyers’ Commitee on Civil Rights, Common Cause and the NAACP, filed numerous lawsuits. There had never been so many lawsuits against a presidential commission. Although they were unable to prevent the Commission meeting, and the Commission publishing its research findings, many meritless lawsuits were rejected by the courts. However, lawfare was able to divert the Commission staff’s work.

However, the Commission continued to fight. It was impossible to abandon the mission. It was impossible to stop it. Suddenly, on January 3, 2018, the White House announced that the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity was shutting down. According to the White House press release, the Department of Homeland Security would continue work on the Commission. This never took place.

The backstory is that Pence and his staff pulled the plug on the Commission. Pence and his staff didn’t inform President Trump or the commissioners in advance. Another of Trump’s priority was quietly undermined by the Swamp.

In 2020, the RNC and Trump campaign were hearing from people in the field who complained about changes to election procedures. These modifications were incompatible with state regulations, and susceptible to fraud. The RNC and Trump campaigns, under Jared Kushner’s control, poured money into the pockets of legal friends, who seemed to have done nothing to address the problem. The election ended before many people realized the extent of the irregularities.

The RNC and Trump campaigns continue to raise huge amounts of money in an effort to fix the election problem. According to a number of people on the ground, however, these RNC election integrity projects consist of paying Swampers lots of money to slow-walk “solutions”–Washington Kabuki theater at its finest.

The RNC and Trump campaign’s willful inaction in 2020 changed the nature of the possible solution. If legal challenges to the unconstitutional changes in election procedures had been pursued in the summer and fall of 2020, the courts would have been presented with simple judicial stays of the unconstitutional procedures; this is not a big lift for a judge.

Because Republicans failed to take action before the election, however, these judges were being asked to change the outcome of an election that had already taken place. A nullification of an election is difficult for judges (many of whom are elected). This holds true even if there weren’t any available remedies before the election. Many cases were dismissed because of this court ruling. This is an old legal term: laches.

As it has been, the Swamp took the millions but did not do anything. The stalling process was also a powerful tool for keeping Trump supporters away from the government. Slow-walk until it’s too late. This grift was only obvious to MAGA loyalists, while the rest of the public was not. If the Commission had been allowed to continue its work, expose the nature and scale of election fraud, and recommend appropriate solutions to protect the integrity of the election, the 2020 election confusion would have been mitigated.

To this day, many in Trump’s orbit continue to downplay the gravity of the election fraud that occurred in 2020. During his June 13, 2022, testimony to the January 6th Commission, Trump’s former campaign manager, Bill Stepien, indicated that he was too concerned with his professional reputation to fight the fraud.

Since the election, Trump’s team and the Republican National Committee together raised $280 million by claiming election fraud and seeking support to fight the 2020 results, but reported spending only about $13 million on legal expenses, filings show. Deja vu again.

There is no way we will be able to undo the RNC and Trump campaign’s failures of 2020, but we can learn from their example. The Swamp cannot do more than raise money by making false promises.

We must work together to create an atmosphere that promotes integrity in elections at both the local and state levels. The Constitution places the power for election management in the states. You can find many good examples of state legislation. Local groups should press their county election supervisors to adhere to the guidelines. A good way to reduce fraud is to clean up voter records.

Don’t let Washington-based groups distract you from the truth about election integrity. Attention to what is happening at home.
