This district used to be Maloney’s. However, redistricting and realigning maps resulted in Nadler running against Maloney. Nadler serves as the Chair for the House Judiciary Committee, while Maloney is the Chair for the House Oversight Committee. They both have been in Congress for since the ’90s.

The race was intense at the end with Maloney citing reports calling Nadler “senile” and then fleeing a reporter. Her daughter intervened physically to save her.

FiveThirtyEight indicated that Maloney was their favorite. They also pointed out that Maloney almost lost the district last time she ran to Suraj Patel who is running in this primary.

In all honesty, it seems that Maloney was unable to overcome the fame of Nadler. He has an even higher profile, and she may be the one who won. It’s too bad, as he should have retired years ago.
