ATLANTA – A woman opened fire on two victims and injured a third one Monday in Atlanta’s Midtown area. She was taken into custody by police at the airport.

Atlanta Police said that they don’t know the motive behind the attack but believe the victims were the targets. Name of suspect was not revealed.

” We don’t believe that these were acts of violence by chance,” Darrin Schierbaum, interim chief police officer told a press conference.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting around 1: 45 p.m. and found two victims at the first building. According to Atlanta police, one of the victims was killed and the other was transported to the hospital.

While there, officers received another report about a shooting at a building located less than one mile from the scene. The victim, who later died at the hospital, was also transported to the hospital. Atlanta police stated that they were investigating the connection between these two locations.

Law enforcement officials from several agencies came to the Midtown neighborhood and asked residents not to leave the search area. Atlanta police claimed that they had a “extensive network of cameras” to track down the suspect. She was finally located at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Mayor Andre Dickens said the woman was arrested before entering a restricted area and that the “security of the airport was never compromised.”
