New York City announced it was sending 1,000 children of migrants to its public school system Friday as part of Project Open Arms.

“‘ “Project Open Arms” ensures that New York City is well prepared to help asylum seekers as school starts and offers wraparound services for students and their families, said Eric Adams, Democratic Mayor of New York City in Friday pressrelease .
Adams and Democratic mayor Muriel Bowser from Washington, D.C. have both criticised Republican governors. Greg Abbott, Arizona, and Doug Ducey, Arizona, have sent migrants via buses, alleging that they were “tricked.” However, the DCNF interviewed migrants who denied having been tricked. They said they took the busses on their own.
These migrants are aware that they can come to these places because of the public resources available to them,” Taer stated. So, I have spoken to many migrants who arrived in D.C. with the intention of New York City. There are also some that crossed at the border and are headed for New York City. These people know that they have access to public benefits and they often inquire me about where they can find them .”
