The Chicken Big Mac sold out within 10 hours after it was released in Britain. It will be available in select Miami restaurants later in the month.
The sandwich trades two hamburgers for two chicken patties and pivots McDonald’s to poultry.
“We have great global equity in both our McNuggets, and with McChicken. But we also own some equities with McCrispy, and McSpicy, that we believe we’re able to do more globally,” Chris Kempczinski, McDonald’s CEO, said during the second quarter earnings call. Seeking Alpha transcribed his remarks.
According to CNN Business, the Chicken Big Mac launch was one of the most successful in Britain and Ireland.
McDonald’s stated in a statement for CNN Business that it is always looking for more options to offer its customers classic menu items. However, McDonald’s stressed that the Chicken Big Mac will only be available in America and overseas as a trial item.
In February, the chain was happy to note the demand for British Isles products from British consumers when supplies ran out.
” We were delighted with the response of our customers to the limited-edition Chicken Big Mac. “The demand for the limited edition Chicken Big Mac has been overwhelming and we just cannot keep up,” said a McDonald’s spokesperson in Ireland and UK to Business Insider.
