An elderly, confused driver park an SUV at the second floor of a Massachusetts shopping mall

After cruising past a series of automated doors in the garage, an elderly man became disoriented and drove onto the second floor at a Braintree shopping center.

The geriatric driver lost her way behind the wheel Lincoln SUV and could only enter enclosed mall due to a security guard missing from an earlier accident. Authorities said that the bollard was not in place.

After the vehicle crossed the pedestrian bridge at South Shore Plaza mall’s parking garage, the doors automatically opened and the SUV was able to move about 60 miles inside the second floor mall.

The driver drove “very slowly”, took a right and parked the car in front of a store,” said the Braintree Fire Department to Boston CBS affiliate WBZ TV.

Braintree Police were called to the scene shortly before noon.

” They found a Lincoln MKX late model stopped at the second floor mall. “The driver was still inside the car and had pulled the vehicle over on her own. Bystanders spoke with her. She was taken to a local hospital. The Braintree Police Department wrote in an official Facebook press release.

Authorities requested that the driver’s licence be suspended because of an imminent threat. However, no charges were filed. No injuries were reported.

Stacy Bartko, a

Mall employee, witnessed the event.

” I started hearing people shouting ‘Stop! Stop! “Stop!” She looked confused. She was clearly confused, I’d say. “Elderly and confused,” Ms. Bartko stated to WBZ TV.

Witnesses were present at the vehicle’s location to capture the event, while security tried to remove the debris but to no avail.
