All-Girls School Ditches Policy That Would Allow Boys To Attend after Pushback

Harpeth hall, an all-girls private school, in Nashville, Tennessee has reversed a policy which would have permitted boys to identify as girls to attend school after opposition from the community.

The all-girls school said they will “pause” the adoption of a framework that would have permitted boys to identify as girls to attend the school. Breitbart News obtained a letter from Trustees.

The letter refers to the earlier decision. ” We recognize that this philosophy has elicited strong responses of support and opposition exceeding our expectations,” the letter reads. We value your comments and have listened .”

“Based on the response from our school community, Harpeth Hall is choosing to pause the adoption of the philosophy in order to engage a wider audience in continued discussion.”

The letter notes that the board “will follow up on next steps as they engage our community in continued discussion about…our all-girls Mission at Harpeth Hall .”

As Breitbart News reported, Harpeth Hall originally told parents, “Any student who identifies as a girl may apply to our school. Harpeth Hall students who remain and join Harpeth Hall are doing so because they feel our mission as a school that is for girls resonates with their .”

The previous letter also noted that Harpeth Hall, which serves middle and high school students, “recognizes that adolescence includes natural searching and questioning about many topics. For some students, this may include the question of gender identity and the desire to identify as nonbinary or use they/them pronouns.”

The school initially stated that they would send a statement to Breitbart News, but this was not possible. Breitbart asked the school if it meant girls had to share bathrooms or lockers with the boys in the letter. It also wanted to know if parents were consulted.

The controversial letter was followed by an article in local media by the school’s Head, Jess Hill, which defended the letter, claiming, “For more than 155 years, Harpeth Hall has been an all-girls school.

” We are starting a national conversation about the role of girls in a changing world,” Hill said.

The board’s decision not to resign is a win for parents, who had, in the first letter, advocated for their daughters safety and the integrity of all-girls school ..
