Former President Donald Trump celebrated Harriet Hageman’s win over Rep. Liz Cheney at the Wyoming Republican congressional primaries.
Cheney came nowhere near striking distance of beating Hageman, with the race being called within 30 minutes of the vote tally, per predictions. As of this writing, Hageman holds a commanding lead by 0ver 30 points with just 49 percent of the vote counted.
Obviously, Donald Trump who had enthusiastically supported Hageman from the start, cheered Cheney’s loss via his social media sites, hoping that it will mark the beginning of an end to “Unselect committee of political Hacks and Thugs,” which refers to the January 6th committee.
“Congratulations Harriet Hageman for her decisive and great WIN in Wyoming,” said he. “This is an amazing result for America and a complete repudiation of the Unselect Committee political Hacks and Thugs,” he said.
Liz Cheney should be ashamed of herself, the way she acted, and her spiteful, sanctimonious words and actions towards others. She can now disappear into political inertia where she will, I’m sure, be happier than right now. We are grateful to WYOMING
During her concession speech Liz Cheney made a comparison between herself and former President Abraham Lincoln, as well as General Ulysses S. Grant. Cheney stated:
The great and original champion of our party, Abraham Lincoln, was defeated in elections for the Senate and House before he won the most important election of all. Lincoln won the election. Our Union was saved by him. He also defined all our obligations as Americans throughout history.
” It has been stated that history’s long bends towards justice and liberty. It is true. But only if it is made to bend,” Cheney added later. Today, we have the highest obligation to change the history arc to save our country and all its blessings. This will ensure freedom does not die to defend the foundations of our constitutional republic .
