Conservative Organizations Blam ‘Blatant Poliization’ of DOJ over FBI Raid of Mar-a-Lago

Multiple conservative organizations have accused the Department of Justice (and FBI) of “breaching the public trust” in their partisan politics against President Donald Trump and his associates, according to an open-letter published on Friday.

The Aug. 12 letter, obtained by The Daily Caller, asked Attorney General Merrick Garland to provide “an immediate and full explanation to the public” over the raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence and the seizure of Rep. Scott Perry’s (R-Pa.) cellphone. Leaders from organizations such as the Conservative Partnership Institute and the Media Research Center signed the letter.

“You must immediately share all documents related to these seizures, including the bases for each warrant, and communications related to the decision to proceed on each warrant,” wrote the 11 conservatives, including former Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli.

The group claimed that Christopher Wray, FBI Director Christopher Garland, and Garland “have grossly failed in their mission of justice” by launching unprecedented actions against Trump.

” The public trust has been breached by the FBI and DOJ. The letter states that this blatantly politicization by the federal justice system constitutes a dangerous escalation, without precedent and is incompatible with United States Constitution.

It said that both agencies had “ignored historic norms by failing to first work with counsel and instead moving directly to raids, seizures .”

In an apparent effort to retrieve official documents taken from the White House after Trump left office, the FBI raided the former president’s home on Aug. 8 and obtained 11 sets of allegedly classified documents, according to documents obtained by The Epoch Times.

Garland said on Aug. 11 that he had “personally approved the decision to seek a search warrant” and the DOJ “does not take such a decision lightly.” The attorney general claimed that FBI agents are “patriotic” and “dedicated” public servants who protect Americans against violent crime and terrorism. He said, “It is an honor to work with them.”

Perry’s cell phone was seized by the FBI one day following the Mar-a-Lago raid. Perry stated in a statement that the DOJ took this unnecessary and aggressive action rather than simply reaching out to my lawyers.

“[Garland] was a man President Trump stopped from being a Supreme Court Justice. “He’s also a man that President Biden has appointed, and who will more likely be running against Donald Trump in the next two years,” he stated.

” It’s hard to believe this is not politically motivated considering past FBI actions, and the attitude they have taken towards Donald Trump and those who are associated with him. .”

There are many real questions

The letter from Friday also listed a number of other instances of “politicized” law enforcement by FBI and DOJ, which the conservatives called “politicized”. These included labeling parents attending school board meetings as terrorists and promulgating the Russia collusion narrative about Trump. It also turned a blind eye towards the crimes of Hunter Biden.

The letter was sent as Republican legislators are calling for release of possible causes, which would explain the legal basis for the search. It is not yet known if the Mar-a-Lago raid affidavit has been made public.

The search for Trump’s house “was an unusual action that requires to be supported by unparalleled justification,” stated Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, a former FBI agent.

House Republican leaders pledged to act on “weaponized politization” by the DOJ when Republicans take control of the House in the midterm elections.

The DOJ didn’t immediately respond to a comment request.
