WATCH: Pilot of a Plane in Peril Attempts to Land on an LA Freeway during Lunchtime Traffic

On Tuesday, traffic in Southern California was made worse by a car that is larger than the average smart vehicle.

Just past noon, aviator Andrew Cho was piloting a single-engine Piper PA-32 toward Corona Municipal Airport.

But, something was radically wrong.

As explained by KTLA Capt. Levi Miller stated that there could have been an engine failure during the final descent …”

.

The plane lost its power. Where could it land again?

In jeopardy above Riverside County’s 91 Freeway, Andrew decided to try and join the lunchtime traffic crowd. He and his passenger, a finagling flyer, headed eastbound on the middle lanes at Lincoln Avenue.

While driver Armando RAMIEZ was en route to Santa Ana, where he visited his family.

Andrew managed to maneuver between fast cars and find enough space for himself — almost.

His plane smashed into Armando’s pickup.

The plane came to a halt as if a fireball was shooting in all directions. The plane skidded and turned. It spun right, and it flew across the merge lane near the entrance ramp. The aircraft hit the wall and exploded again.

Miraculously, the plane’s imprisoned pair was able to escape.

The pilot shared his experience with LA’s Channel 5. :

“It felt like a hard bump. It’s hard to explain. We were four to five feet in the air when the plane stalled completely and fell to the ground.”

No one was injured seriously in the accident or near by vehicles.

The feat was captured on video by the car ahead of it:

Another angle has been captured. You can see Andrew merge traffic into himself:

The plane was eventually engulfed by

Here’s what it looked like at the end:

Inside Edition reports Armando may have suffered a broken taillight. It is amazing that Armando did not suffer any worse.

According to Andrew, training saved the day.

” Your training begins and you are able to do what is right. As long as you don’t panic, you get the best outcome.”

Per KTLA , while investigators investigated the accident and removed the debris.

The Federal Aviation Association issued a statement:

An unidentified small plane landed on the eastbound 91 Freeway near Interstate 15 in Corona, Calif., around 12: 30 local time today. Two persons were present at the scene. FAA investigators will be investigating. The agency does not identify people involved in aircraft accidents or incidents

Back To Capt. Miller:

“[We’re] very fortunate today that the traffic was light, and the pilot appears to have made some good landing navigation that avoided what could have been a very bad tragedy.”

He could repeat that.
