Breitbart and President Trump Accused Of “Doxxing” FBI Agents who Signed Public Document

The conservative news outlet Breitbart published the personal information of two FBI agents involved in the raid against President Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen. The publication came just days after the White House called out the FBI over the handling of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

In a statement, the FBI said it had no knowledge of the leak and that it takes “these matters very seriously.”

The agency added that it was investigating the matter internally.

“We are aware of the report,” the FBI wrote. “We take these matters very seriously and will review the allegations raised today.”

Trump has been accused of trying to intimidate the FBI agents in order to get back at the bureau for not endorsing him in 2016.

One of many skirmishes that followed the raid at President Trump’s Mar-A-Lago estate was about the search warrant. The conduct of the search was criticized by President Trump, however, the Department of Justice sealed the warrant, which prevented its release. Left pointed out that President Trump was legally required by the FBI to give him a copy. He should also release the copy, if he feels abused.

Search for Trump abusive

Search of Trump abusive?

If Trump/RNC feel that this search approved by a federal judge is abusive and they have nothing to hide then release the warrant to

Remember, Trump can release the warrant, #ReleaseTheWarrant

Trump holds the warrant. Trump could issue it.

Another reminder: Trump can get a copy the warrant. It will contain what they searched and which crimes they suspect were committed. It is his right to release it at any time he wishes.

Last Friday, Donald Trump made that exact move. Using Breitbart News as his vehicle, we could see the entire search warrant.

Search Warrant Mar a Lago by Breitbart News

Did I mention the whole search warrant? That’s not what Trump’s critics were looking for.

Trump released an unredacted copy from a property receipt that contained names of FBI agents via Breitbart. This can be only interpreted from Trump’s history as an intentional attempt to cause grief and expose these special agents (one of which I know) to potential threats.

You’re not kidding, Breitbart has just released the names of FBI agents involved in the search. Is that you? And it is possible that Breitbart leaked the search warrant unredacted from Trump.
Wow good luck to those agents & their families. The right doesn’t care about the ‘blue’.

You have to be sh*ting me.

A search warrant is public information. This is evident in the fact that Donald Trump was provided with a copy of it and encouraged to publish it by intellectuals. I have no sympathy for those involved in the assault on the Republic. Although I do not wish anyone physical harm, it is acceptable for them to be confronted peacefully at home, while out shopping, or eating out. This is the norm.

As long as they aren’t treated more violently or with disrespect than Kirstjen Nie, it is fine.

A number of suspects have accused Breitbart, in addition to posting a public file, of “doxxing” the agents; pages 5 and 7 are examples. It is absurd. The only way “doxxing” could occur would have been if the Department of Justice had violated court rules when filing the search warrant.

Federal rules require that anyone filing a federal court document must redact certain personal information in the interest of privacy, including Social Security or taxpayer identification numbers, dates of birth, names of minor children, financial account information, and in criminal cases, home addresses.

If the agents “doxxed”, by publishing a document publically, the failure was due to Breitbart News, and not Federal Court rules.

To “dox” these agents, one would need to be able to locate them in public databases. Then publish the information. This would have been wrong. Right?

I don’t see why people voluntarily involved in this search have any expectation that their role, even if it was “only following orders” (Ich habe nur Befehle ausgefuhrt, in the original German), should be some sort of state secret. This shouldn’t be. It is our right to understand who we’re dealing with. When our side holds the power, we have the right balance the justice system. People involved in the planning and execution of this raid were conscious that they wanted to participate in political warfare. They might be ashamed of the actions they took. They should reconsider joining a political vendetta if they fear that their neighbours or the society as a whole will disapprove. They should be proud of what they did and accept full responsibility for it.
