KIAWAH ISLAND (S.C.)–President Joe Biden arrived Wednesday in South Carolina to start what is likely to be a minimum of seven days vacation with his family.

The White House didn’t respond to inquiries about Biden’s travel schedule, activities and when he would return to Washington. According to White House officials, the president will be staying at the friend’s house on the island where his family used previously for visits.

Biden was accompanied by First lady Jill Biden. They left the White House via motorcade and arrived at Joint Base Andrews, outside Washington. Air Force One was there to transport them to Joint Base Charleston. Biden was taken to a home located in a gated community on an island, where he was met by Jill Biden.

Biden was accompanied on Air Force One with his son Hunter Biden and daughter-in law Melissa Cohen. Beau is also there.

Summer vacations have been a Presidential tradition. George W. Bush often spent August clearing brush in the 100-degree heat that baked his central Texas ranch. Barack Obama practiced his game of golf on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Donald Trump enjoyed time at his central New Jersey home, where he played his private 18-hole golf course.

And sometimes, the president has to make important decisions during vacation. This includes Bush’s decision to respond to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. 2005. In response to bombings at U.S. embassies, Kenya and Tanzania, Bill Clinton directed airstrikes from Martha’s Vineyard against al-Qaeda terrorists. Bush’s father was President George H.W. Bush planned U.S. responses to Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990, from Kennebunkport in Maine, his family’s oceanfront property.
