Democrats Richard Blumenthal and Stacey Abrams refuse to answer whether Biden should run

.

Two prominent Democrats refused to say Sunday if President Biden should seek reelection, underscoring increasing ambivalence within the party about the 79-year-old’s role in 2024.

Both Senator Richard Blumenthal (Conn. Democrat) and Stacey Abrams (Democratic candidate for Governor of Georgia), avoided answering directly in separate interviews to CNN’s “State of the Union,” whether Mr. Biden should give it another shot. They said that their main focus is the November midterms.

” If he decides to run again I’m there for him,” Ms. Abrams stated. I’m going tell him that he should do his best job, and that right now our attention must be on the happenings. Yes, President Biden can run again. But my responsibility is making sure that women are protected.

Mr. Blumenthal struck a similar tone.

” If he chooses to run, I will back him,” he stated. I believe his decision will depend on how November goes for both the Democratic Party, and senators such as myself running for reelection .”

.

The White House and President have attempted to discredit the notion of primary challengers. They claim that he intends to run for reelection.
