MSNBC’s Joy Reid Makes Another Asinine Comparison Regarding the Overturning of Roe v. Wade

MSNBC’s Joy Reid is back with another asinine comparison. On her show “The Reid Out,” Reid claimed that the state now owns pregnant women’s bodies, linking it to slavery.

She began her show by speaking about the Kansas election, saying that the state voted to keep abortion rights as an “F-U” to the pro-life movement. She said:

“But on Tuesday, Kansas had its own message to send, delivering a stunning FU to the right’s shock and awe campaign against bodily autonomy. It was testament to desire for abortion rights in this country in one of America’s reddest states with even rubier red pockets, rural, conservative, MAGA, where voters resoundingly rejected a ballot measure that would have allowed lawmakers to ban abortion in the state.”

She continued:

“In much clearer terms the right to an abortion will remain in the Kansas constitution, a state constitution, by the way, that in its original form was built on opposition to slavery.”

Reid doubled down as she continued to compare overturning Roe v. Wade to slaveryclaiminged that Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito said the state owns a pregnant woman’s body.

“I think it’s actually poetic that it happened in Kansas. Because this is a state that wrestled with the question of who owns people. It wrestled with the question of slavery, and this question is a question of who owns you, who owns your body. And what Alito said is, your state owns your body. The minute you become pregnant your state owns your body and your state can tell you what to do with it. Sorry, no luck. You don’t own yourself.”

Of course, Reid dove into religion as well, as she tried to link Christians and Christianity in her comparison.

“The arrogance of him and the arrogance of basically thinking it’s funny and also trying to put forth this idea that this country is a land of religious persecution against Christians, that Christians are being persecuted simply because women have the right to decide what to do with our own bodies.”

This is not the first time Reid has made a claim about Christianity.

The Catholics for Choice President, Jaime Manson, was a guest on her show, and agreed with Reid’s point of view of when she claimed Republicans want a “White Christian autocracy.” Manson claimed:

“They want abortion to remain legal but, you know, the struggle for a lot of religious is that abortion is not only supported, abortion access, but it’s required, especially particularly by Jews and Muslims, so it is an infringement on their religious freedom and what we see is an incredible overreach by a White Christian nationalist movement trying to take away basic rights claiming that they are the ones under siege, and that’s really where it’s painful. This is how they build power.”

As MSNBC continues its attack on Christianity and Christians, particularly on Joy Reid’s show, they don’t want their viewpoints to be challenged or questioned. It just goes to show that the mainstream media will stop at nothing to show their religious bigotry, and keep making their outrageous comparisons like the Roe v. Wade and slavery comparison, while not wanting anybody to challenge their claims. That is one of the many reasons why so many people are tuning out Joy Reid and others similar to her.
