According to ’90s high school movies, cheerleading is a drama den. Things went horribly wrong at the Texas cheer camp.
Ranger College’s team was undergoing its on-campus training, when an argument broke out. One cheerleader was allegedly choked by another in the chaos.
Fingered in the crime: Averie Channel Medlock. The athlete was expelled from camp in the wake of the incident.
Averie is a biological male, but the 25-year-old identifies as a girl. The New York Post , identifies that one particular player was
According to team members’ Facebook posts,
[P]olice reacted to a disagreement between members of the team. Medlock claims that Medlock made racist and transphobic remarks to a colleague before the altercation. Cell phone footage showed other cheerleaders running away from Medlock, who was agitated.
Averie was charged with crotchety acts in relation to the above phobia.
On Facebook last week, the incriminated student chronicled the chaos:
“Well, guys, I’m officially retired as a cheerleader as of last night at 5: 30 a.m. A girl on the team was being very disrespectful and told me I am a MAN with a PENIS and that [guys] should not be on the team.”
The next step was self-defense. Parents were still notified:
” I stood for myself and her mother called me because she was afraid that she would be scared if she saw how much I had [stood] for myself. She said that her father believed she still had testosterone and penis and would kill any person who pursued my daughter. ‘”
That “[coming] after” part was purportedly perilous: Averie allegedly strangled the girl — identified as Karleigh — ’til she blacked out.
Karleigh was driven by Mike Jones’ dad to get there. He now demands that police release CCTV and bodycam footage.
Mike took to Facebook as well:
” I ask you what your response would be if you were called by your daughter at one o’clock in morning to report that they locked themselves in a room with some other girls. At no time did I ever say anything about your race or your gender.”
Averie claims it was a joke. Officials found it absurd. They issued a criminal assault ticket.
Speaking to KTAB, KRBC , The scorned college student denounced injustices:
” They knew I was trans. They were aware that I was not like the rest of the girls. It was not a major issue until her father came along and started a conversation. I was kicked off the team for assumptions because of the dad’s assumptions of what happened.”

In the posted video clip of the altercation, which is mostly audio and consists mainly of audio, the cheerleader can heard his teammates complaining behind closed doors about their transphobic remarks.
She can be heard telling her teammates she “barely touched Karleigh” and insisted that any contact was only a joke.
“Bh. Come outside,” Medlock informs one of the locked women in the room.
” You’re a woman,” she replies. When Medlock responds that she is a girl, the woman in the room says, “You have a penis.”
It’s been a great era for Averie.
On April 1st, the erstwhile cheerleader celebrated making the team on social media. Photos hashtags were “Scotti Williams — hair” or “Aaron Teandrea Luedke — bra
And on June 16th, Averie said Adios, deadname:
“Dmontrey Duval Satchell has been laid to rest today on June 16, 2022! Averie Chanel Satchell is now a rising. She is female and will be addressed accordingly!
” I am now legally a Texas female! God, thank you for making my dreams come true. Thank you to all those who made this possible. I am so blessed and honored to be living in my true self, and it feels like I’m on top of the world!”
No one is ever in control.
Even so, observes the Mail, the joke may truly be on Karleigh and co.:
Ranger College stated in a statement that it was opening Title IX investigations into the incident.
“Ranger College is aware of these allegations and will work to ensure that there are no discriminatory practices in the classroom. Ranger College has been observing all Title IX and Board policies at this point,” Ranger College stated.
