House GOP creates an ‘America First” message to promote midterm elections

House Republicans have teamed up with a Trump-inspired Washington thinktank to create a midterm message that focuses on their party’s defense and respect for the rule of law. This is according to The Washington Times.

GOP legislators gathered with members from America First Policy Institute Friday in Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader at the Capitol to discuss rising crime and inflation.

AFPI’s Kellyanne Conway was a senior advisor to Donald Trump and told the group that the message must reach independent voters as well as other voters.

” We’re not responsible for writing Sean Hannity’s monologue each day. That’s a job he does well. This is not our job. She said that it’s not her job to disagree with Twitter users because there are no swing voters.”

Ms. Conway was the first woman to run a successful presidential campaign. She managed Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign.

give concrete instances of crime waves in U.S. cities, and make the problem a household name by making Democratic “soft-on–crime” leaders.

“Crime shows the Democrats’ current ethos of saying to America, “Don’t Believe What You See.” “I believe what I have to say,” said Ms. Conway.

Indeed: Voters increasingly see Republicans as the party of public safety. Fox News’ June poll showed that voters favored Republicans by 19 percentages when they were asked about their best approach to crime.

The meeting was hosted at the House GOP Leadership’s Future of American Freedoms Task Force which is headed by Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia was a member the task force. She said that messaging about crime should not be directed towards the GOP base but rather universal.

” We should not treat law and order as an issue of political parties, but rather one that is for all Americans,” said Mrs. Greene.

Reps. Carol Miller from West Virginia, Tom McClintock in California, Fred Keller, Pennsylvania and Burgess Owens, Utah, also attended.

Matthew Whitaker (ex-acting attorney general under Trump), is now the Center for Law & Justice at AFPI. He said that Republicans need to emphasize crime’s effect on families.

” The message is that all children should have the freedom to play in their own yards, and not in major cities,” said Mr. Whitaker.

The task force was formed to refine the message of the party as House members return home from August recess. It also prepared for heavy campaigning ahead of the Nov.8 elections. These will be driven by concerns expressed by the voters about crime, the economy and education.

These issues give Republicans an advantage over the rest in a year which was expected to be positive for them, according to AFPI, the task force and the taskforce.

Republicans will likely win seats in November to overtake the Democrats’ small majority in the House.

Ms. Conway advised House Republicans not to talk about 2024, and urged them to concentrate on November.

Part of her advice was to tie President Biden’s failings to the whole Democratic Party as he struggled with low approval ratings. This strategy goes far beyond simply highlighting gaffes in speeches, she said.

” If you laugh at him, then you are creating sympathy for his actions and you are allowing him to make bad choices,” said Ms. Conway.

Democrats have their own message strategy. The GOP is being portrayed as a threat and to freedom. They call them far-right extremists, or “MAGA Republicans “.

” The threat to this country’s people right now is from extreme MAGA Republican. This is the danger. This is the problem. “That’s the problem we face,” Hakeem Jeffries, Chairman of House Democratic Caucus in New York recently stated.

Democrats sought to tie Republicans together at the Capitol Riot, ending abortion rights and white supremacists.

At the Republican task force meeting Mr. Jordan stated that hearing outside experts helped to narrow down the policy proposals that he presented to Mr. McCarthy. He was unable to attend.

“It is helpful to put together the things we must do to defend Americans’ liberty, and to highlight the Left’s attack on the First Amendment [and] due-process rights,” Jordan stated. You can’t enjoy real freedom if your rights are not protected by the law .”
