“Conflict of Interest”: DCNF reporter tells Tucker Carlson how Congress could benefit from student loan forgiveness

A Daily Caller News Foundation journalist told Tucker Carlson that many prominent advocates for eliminating student loans owe hundreds of thousands in college debt.

“According to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s review of financial disclosures there are more than 12 Democratic representatives in Congress who owe $1.5million or have reported this amount for their spouses or children, and have supported federal loan cancellation.” Gabe Kaminsky, an investigative journalist, told Carlson. ” “It’s definitely something the American people need to be aware of and, I think, whether or not it’s because they have student loans it’s an inherently conflict of interest. It’s something people should understand,” Kaminsky said.

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, who has posted calls to cancel college debt on social media multiple times, has up to $50,000 in student loans according to financial disclosures. Fellow “squad” member Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, who has also advocated for cancelling college debt, reported owing up to $100,000 in student loans.

Those figures are dwarfed by the nearly $250,000 in college debt owed by the husband of Democratic Rep. Grace Meng of New York.

Kaminsky stated that it was a reasonable question to ask how they would benefit. You pointed out that most Americans don’t go to college. And, you also pointed out that they shouldn’t have to pay the bills for the elites residing in Capitol Hill

Ocasio Cortez, Tlaib, and Meng didn’t immediately reply to DCNF requests for comment.
