Arizona AG Mark Brnovich was beaten in the GOP Senate Race, and now looks to come from behind

In a normal election cycle, a Republican who is personally taking on President Biden’s agenda on everything from COVID-19 mandates to the border wall to election laws would seem to be a shoo-in for a GOP primary win.

Instead, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich has been sued by the Biden government two dozen times. He is struggling to gain a foothold within the Republican race for the U.S. Senate.

” The truth is that you have two men who are being funded by out-of state billionaires and one who is worth hundreds upon millions of dollars, who is buying Senate seats,” Mr. Brnovich said to The Washington Times.

This was an ode to Peter Thiel, a billionaire pro-Trump activist,’s support of Blake Masters and the willingness to tap into his personal wealth by Jim Lamon (solar energy tycoon)

Tuesday’s primary will be held. Mr. Brnovich hopes voters view him as someone who has a track record of delivering results and is most likely to defeat Democratic Senator Mark Kelly.

” I’m relying upon old-fashioned elbow grease, and Arizona voters will recognize that I am the only candidate with a track record of real results.” he stated. No one can beat my record .”

.

Mr. Kelly has been rated one of the most dangerous incumbents. Arizona would seem like the ideal state to promote Mr. Brnovich’s anti-Biden message.

But, the presence of ex-President Donald Trump overrides all those normal calculations, stated Brett Marson, who is a GOP consultant and noted that Trump’s attorney general won victories against Biden White House. He also defended conservative laws, and has been a frequent guest on Fox News.

“This is usually a winning trio of moves,” Mr. Marson stated. He said, “But he does have one major fault. He hasn’t furthered Trump’s claim of a stolen electoral… And while a moderate Republican might be fine with this, the majority of Republican primary voters have had a steady diet election denialism over the past two years.”

Indeed Mr. Masters, Mr. Lamon, and former TV news anchor Kari lake, have all wrapped around the fraudulent election claims. Also, state Rep. Mark Finchem and Kari Lake were Trump-backed frontrunners for the GOP primaries for secretary and governor.

Mr. Brnovich signed the results.

He raised questions about the election later and initiated an investigation into the falsified claims, after facing intense backlash from Trump World.

Mr. Brnovich released in April an interim report on the ongoing investigation. He stated that it revealed “serious vulnerability that must be fixed.”

The investigation failed to uncover instances of voter fraud which could have affected the election’s outcome.

Mr. Trump re-energized the race early in June, when he stepped up to endorse Mr. Masters as well as take further shots at Mr. Brnovich because he refused to accept his unverified election claims.

An OH Predictive Insights poll released Friday showed Mr. Masters leads with the support of 36% of likely Republican voters, followed by Mr. Lamon at 21% and Mr. Brnovich at 12%. Two additional candidates did not crack the double-digits, and 22% voters were undecided.

This is the second consecutive poll that shows Mr. Masters growing in momentum and Mr. Brnovich dropping it. Mr. Lamon hovers between them.

” It is quite clear in the U.S. Senate Race that no one was really gaining momentum until Trump set his foot on the scale,” stated Mike Noble of OH Predictive Intelsights. “It’s clear from the numbers that what is propelling Blake Masters now is Trump’s endorsement and support.”

Mr. Noble stated that Mr. Brnovich’s difficulties, along with Mr. Masters’ polling numbers are positive news for Mr. Kelly who beat former Senator Martha McSally during a special election in 2020.

“Mark Kelly might be performing backflips, seeing Blake Masters soaring in the polls,” said he. Think of Martha McSally, but with tons of baggage .”

Mr. Marson worked previously for Mr. Brnovich and said that the attorney general had been hurt by his attempts to find a compromise between the “sanity lanes” and the election deniers lane .”

” “It has not worked and it has upset both sides,” he stated. You end up irritating both sides when you attempt to please them both. This is a terrible strategy, especially in the .”

example.

Making things worse, Mr. Brnovich struggled to remain financially competitive after raising $3.1million.

This is a far cry from Mr. Lamon who spent $15 millions, which includes $14million he borrowed to his campaign. Mr. Masters has raised nearly $5 million and received a major financial boost from Mr. Thiel, who has dumped $13.5 million into the Saving Arizona super PAC that is supporting Mr. Masters.

There is still hope for Mr. Brnovich.

A long-time Republican strategist based in Arizona said that Mr. Brnovich may benefit from the television battle between Mr. Masters, Mr. Lamon.

” If you’re a viewer of local TV news, on one of their affiliate channels, they will go to breaking after three minutes of car crashes, fires, and weather. It is then that Masters dumps on Lamon, and Masters dumps on Lamon,” he stated.

The Lamon campaign runs an ad that describes Mr. Masters, an “open border California liberal”, and features a clip of an interview where Mr. Masters praises Ted Theodore Kaczynski, Unabomber Ted Theodore Kaczynski, as “subversive thinker” .”

Saving America PAC backs Mr. Masters. They air a game warning that Mr. Lamon would be China’s senator and accusing him, among other things, of importing Chinese products and building power plants to support the Chinese government.

” The Lamon-Masters Spending Orgy is a gift for Brnovich,” said Mr. Barnes.
