FBI officers incorrectly labeled evidence against Hunter Biden “verified”, according to bureau whistleblowers. Sen. Chuck Grassley disclosed this on Monday.
In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray, Mr. Grassley said his office has been contacted by current and former “highly credible whistleblowers” who described how the FBI improperly sought to discredit the Hunter Biden case by labeling “verified and verifiable derogatory information about the president’s son as disinformation.”
Folks from the FBI stopped the investigation into the Hunter Biden case by incorrectly labeling it as disinformation.
” If these accusations are true, then the Justice Department (and FBI) are — and were — institutionally corrupted down to their core to the extent that the United States Congress, and American citizens, will have no faith in the equal application law,” stated Mr. Grassley, an Iowa Republican who is the Senate Judiciary Committee’s top Republican.
The Justice Department and FBI didn’t immediately reply to comments.
Mr. Grassley asked the Justice Department Inspector General to open an inquiry into Timothy Thibault, Assistant Special Agent In Charge, and other individuals who were involved in the FBI’s Hunter Biden investigation in 2020 while Hunter’s father was running for President.

Mr. Thibault was criticized for his partisan social media posts. These included retweeting posts from the Lincoln Project, other anti-Trump groups and slamming Republicans. Since then, he has hidden all of his social media posts from the public.
In his letter Mr. Grassley stated that whistleblowers had told him the Justice Department (FBI) must follow specific guidelines in order to open an investigation. He also claimed that Mr. Thibault didn’t follow these guidelines.
Whistleblowers revealed to senators that Thibault closed down an inquiry into Hunter Biden’s conduct in October 2020 due to false information. However, some details of his investigation were accurate at the time.
” All of the reported information (in the case was either verified/verifiable via criminal searches warrants,” he wrote. Mr. Thibault also “ordered that the matter be closed without giving a valid reason as required .”
FBI officers “then attempted to incorrectly mark the matter FBI systems so that it couldn’t be opened in future,” Mr. Grassley claimed.
Mr. Grassley wrote that there was an FBI “scheme in place among certain FBI officials to undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.”
