Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg stated Sunday, on CNN’s “State of the Union”, that Sen. Marco Rubio (R.FL), has enough time to protest the Walt Disney Corporation’s political positions and has the time to vote for same-sex marriage codification.
Anchor Jake Tapper stated, “I don’t know if your heard but Congresswoman Liz Cheney addressed Senate Republicans directly about her opinion that codifying protections for homosexual marriage is necessary. The number of Senate Republicans who are willing to support the bill is still unknown. My colleague Manu Raju was told by Senator Rubio that he would vote against it. He called the vote an inefficient waste of time. How did you react to this? How do you communicate that to Senate Republicans ?”
Buttigieg stated, “If he has the time to fight against Disney then I don’t understand why he would have to protect marriages such as mine.” It is very important for many people. This is important to me .”
He said, “Our union deserves to be treated equal.” It is hard to understand why it would be difficult for either a senator nor a congressman. It is hard to believe that a majority vote of House Republicans against our marriage was taken on Tuesday. This happened hours after we were in the same room discussing transportation policy and having normal conversations. They can choose to vote no if they do not want to waste time discussing this issue. This would really be reassuring to a lot families in America, such as mine .
