People are having fun editing the Wikipedia page of LA Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer

It would appear that Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer’s Wikipedia page has been edited by people unhappy with her edicts, because as of 10: 30 pm EST, the entry certainly doesn’t read as if it were approved by the not-medically trained doctor:

LA County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer’s Wikipedia page on July 23, 2022. Source: Wikipedia

It says, “the far left public health official (not a Doctor )…” Oh! Someone is having fun with the Mask Queen. According to archive.today, the entry read quite differently in June:

Barbara Ferrer(born September 30, 1965) is an American health executive, serving as the director of Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. [1][2]

It’s not clear why the listings have been separated by 9 years. A quick internet search showed that both birth dates were available on different sites. Not to be mean, but I’m guessing 1956 is the correct year of birth.

Who is editing Ferrer’s wikipedia page? That you, @Morrow_Brett? Is Katilin’s internet presence being completely scrubbed?

Ferrer is the latest talk in town. RedState’s Jennifer Van Laar revealed last week that Ferrer’s daughter Kaitlin Barnes co-authored a study used by both the CDC as well as the LA County Health Department to support mask mandates. She also tried to reinstate mask mandates in Los Angeles, despite scientific evidence proving otherwise.

In a section called “Scandal,” tonight’s Wikipedia entry reads almost like it was a RedState page (but it isn’t! ):

Scandal

In July of 2022, it became known that Ferrer was manipulating Covid-19 hospitalization numbers in an attempt to bring back a mask mandate in Los Angeles County. Ferrer was counting every hospitalization where the patient had been diagnosed with Covid Hospitalization, regardless of its root cause. It also came to light that a research paper she based her Covid-19 policies on, regarding masking, school closures, lockdown’s [sic] etc. These were taken from her daughter’s paper, which is not a doctor. Ferrer also attended the 2022 MLB All Star Game at Dodger Stadium where she was filmed not wearing her mask in a sold out crowd of 65,000 people. She stated that a mandate to remove masks was necessary because many people were being asked to do so, and they aren’t. She has been labeled a fraud by the news media, and has lost all credibility with the people of Los Angeles. There are currently calls for her to resign or be relieved from her duties. Twitter has recently been trending #fireferrer. (Emphasis mine. )

Another interesting thing about her webpage is the “awards” section. On June 6, that section didn’t appear; as of now, there is a lengthy list of some 44 awards. It is possible that the section was added by her or an employee to address some of her critics. Some of these are difficult to believe like the “The Phenomenal Woman Award” she received from YWCA Greater Los Angeles. Does that even exist? She also allegedly won the “Lark Social Justice Achievement Award” in 2020, which I totally believe, the “Women of Color: Changing the World Award, 2013,” and the “Extra Large Health Department of the Year” in 2019. I hope she has a large display cabinet.

On May 9, @LACountyBOS is actually awarding @lapublichealth Director Barbara Ferrer, the non-doctor SJW who has closed schools/businesses & masked kids and muzzled society, w/ President’s Woman of the Year Award (not a joke)! WTF?! @UprisingLa #FireFerrer https://t.co/XJRZlS6MuY

While the Wikipedia page may be funny, Barbara Ferrer most definitely is not. While she has enforced the most stringent lockdowns, mandates in the nation since COVID’s introduction, California didn’t perform as well as states such Florida that remained unaffected. It doesn’t matter if the Wikipedia page has been edited in a malicious way, it is correct. Ferrer is a “far left, public health official, and social justice fighter (not a Doctor).” We don’t want her to bring back masks to an already exhausted and tired city.

UPDATE: The Wikipedia page seems to be changing in real-time. The story has changed from “far-left”, to “liberal” since I started writing it. Expect mischief to keep going.
