Welcome to the New TheAmericanConservative.com

Culture

As the magazine celebrates 20 years, we launch a redesigned website.

You may have noticed that things are a little different here. Welcome to The American Conservative‘s new website.

TAC has done it correctly for twenty years. Our founding editors stood firm against the American right’s support for a devastating regime change in Iraq. It was simple in concept: The major conservative magazines didn’t represent American citizens on issues such as foreign policy, immigration and faith & family. We needed a new voice for conservatives. TAC launched as a biweekly print magazine, with the first issue arriving October 7, 2002.

At the time we were ridiculed. We’re now vindicated twenty years later. The Republican Party in 2022 far more closely resembles Pat Buchanan’s vision than George W. Bush’s. It’s now that we are looking ahead to the next 20 years and beyond. We need to consolidate our position and maintain the top magazine of the left.

This new website is a significant step in this work. The print magazine is still an essential part of our editorial process. It is now time to invest in our online presence, as the vast majority of our readers are now online. This new website was designed for you, our reader. The new site presents our content in a much more user-friendly manner. Our homepage will give you the best content. Our print magazine will also be integrated with the web site, using similar fonts and colors across print and online. This unifies our editorial product.

The design is not the only thing you will see. This site was completely rebuilt in order to reduce crashes and has been optimized for mobile, search and social media. You’ll also find many opportunities to get involved with our work through our email list and becoming a member.

A note about membership: Our business model is a key part of our success. TAC is published by the American Ideas Institute, a 501c3 non-profit. TAC, as a non-profit organization, is not subject to any one owner’s deep pockets or need for clicks. You, the readers, support us. Our base includes foundations and individuals who support our vision of conservatism on Main Street. We can keep our ideology independent, offer the most conservative journalism and remain true to the mission we have been following for over twenty years.

I invite you to become a member. You can join us for $5 per month and enjoy a variety of benefits. Access to the entire TAC website and print archives will be available. The site will be ad-free. Participate in the discussion by commenting on blog posts and articles. Perhaps most important, you will be part of the Main Street conservative community, which supports our ambitious growth plans over many years.

TAC has been right since the start, and we won’t slow down as we mark our 20th anniversary. It is now more open than ever before for the American right. The old questions of foreign policy, trade and immigration are now open to discussion. These questions need to be discussed and debated by the right. A magazine that is full of ideas, to give the foundation for a new conservative vision for America. This is the TAC’s twenty-year anniversary task. It’s what we are going to lead.
