California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democratic senator, was seen at the White House Wednesday to attend a series of “meetings” on topics such as abortion, climate change and gun control.
According to Elex Michaelson, FoxLA reporter, Newsom visited the West Wing Wednesday in order to meet first lady Jill Biden.

According to Emily Hoeven,
Newsom visited D.C. in order to receive an award “in appreciation of CA’s transformative improvement to education.” Newsom also had plans to visit the Biden Administration officials in order to talk about gun control, climate change and abortion.

The Education Commission of the States said that it would “honor the state of California with the 2022 Frank Newman Award for State Innovation, in recognition of its coordinated approach to educating all students from preschool to postsecondary, with explicit attention toward whole-child supports and services, as well as its historic financial investments to ensure educational equity.”
“California has demonstrated an intentional, complete investment in funding and other resources, that acknowledge and honor whole child approaches to education.
Newsom visited the White House after signing a law that allows victims of gun violence and gun companies to be sued. He argued that gun makers have been too “shielded” from the destruction they create .”
“Gun manufacturers & distributors have been shielded from the mass destruction they cause for too long,” Newsom said in a Twitter post. CA has made changes to that. “Today, CA changes that. I signed a bill which will enable victims of gun violence to sue those who made these deadly weapons .”

Newsom has also been sparking rumors of a 2024 presidential run as poll after poll continues to show that Americans and Democrats have given up on Joe Biden.
