Illinois manhunt for July 4th gunman

.

Federal, state and federal law enforcement officers are running a massive manhunt to find the mass shooter responsible for at least six deaths and numerous injuries at the Fourth of July Parade in Highland Park.

“There is no indication that he has hostages or is barricaded,” stated Chris Covelli, Lake County Illinois Sheriff’s deputy. “Investigators work very fast to determine who the person is and where he is .”

Violence and bloodshed broke out shortly after the celebrations began. A lone gunman fired from the rooftop of a building on the parade route. Fear and confusion swept through the crowd as hundreds fled from fearful parade participants and others who heard the gunshots.

” “All of a sudden, everyone behind started running,” said a CNN witness. I looked up, and saw a little girl being shot to death. I saw her die.

Law enforcement officials believe the shooter to be a man in his mid-to-late 20s. He opened fire from a roof, killing at most six people. As approximately 24 people are being treated for injuries, the death toll may rise.

” “There aren’t words to describe the monster that lies in wait, and then fires into families celebrating holidays with their communities,” stated Illinois Governor. J.B. Pritzker, a Democrat.

According to law enforcement the suspect fled from the scene and is still at large. With the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Illinois State Police are conducting a manhunt.
