Thursday’s appearance on CNN’s Newsroom, National Economic Council Director Brian Deese said that President Joe Biden had made remarks about higher prices earlier in the day. He claimed Americans might have to face rising costs as the world struggles with aggressive Russian President Vladimir Putin’s plans for Ukraine.
Deese called Biden’s comments a claim over what was at stake. He called it the “future liberal world order .”
“The president spoke today about the stakes.” he stated. This is about the future order of the liberal global system, and it’s up to us to be strong. However, I would also say that to the family and to all Americans in the United States, that the current administration is doing everything it can to reduce these price rises. The good news is that the cost of gasoline has fallen by 20cs in the past two weeks. However, it remains unacceptable .”
“So, the President, prior to his visit to NATO and G7 earlier in the week, had been working with the G7 allies around exploring ways to get them together, looking at a price cap that would limit the amount of oil Russia can pay. Deese said that this will target the pain of Vladimir Putin more than the rest. It’s the reason you have the President calling for a temporary gas tax exemption at home, at both the federal and state levels. It is the reason we engage with the industry and encourage them to increase oil supply .”
“And increase the refinery capacity we know these companies lost during the pandemic,” said he. We need more online so that we can get more gas into our system. None of these actions are a panacea. You have an admin working at every angle to maintain the price drop .”
